The South Norfolk Civic League is pleased to announce we are now accepting Unit Applications for the 2025 4th of July Parade! The Application can be completed online here: (link). This year’s line up location is at South Norfolk Baptist Church, 1101 Chesapeake Ave, Chesapeake, VA 23324, and below is a list of some of our participant guidelines.

2025 PARADE UNIT GUIDELINES

Please follow these instructions to ensure a timely and safe parade experience for all.

Line up at your assigned sections at South Norfolk Baptist Church no later than 9:00 am the day of the
parade. Late entries will not be allowed.

If you are unable to participate, please let the South Norfolk Civic League know ASAP.

No vehicles will be permitted at the staging locations unless they are part of the parade. There is no
dedicated parking for participants. We recommend parking at Lakeside Park, where there will be overflow parking available, side streets may not have available parking. Plan accordingly.

The parade steps off promptly at 10 a.m.

Pace is critical to the day’s events, so please refrain from stopping unnecessarily along the route. Performances along the route and at the viewing area are not permitted.

No throwing of objects of any kind (including candy) that would cause people to enter the parade route.
You may have walkers hand out candy along the route.

No Equipment and/or decorations may not obstruct the driver’s view.

Units should be decorated in accordance with the patriotic theme of the day’s event. The South Norfolk Civic League does not exercise editorial control over any messaging, but it requests that participants adhere to state and local laws and prohibit the use of language or messaging that could be deemed vulgar.

The volume of music being played cannot be excessive. If your group is asked by event staff to lower
the volume, you must comply.

At the end of the parade, please continue to go straight down Bainbridge Blvd. if you have vehicles
to disperse. No exceptions! Vehicles traveling through the neighborhood, or who otherwise deviate from the parade route accept liability for any and all incidents that may arise. Incidents should be immediately reported to the South Norfolk Civic League.

Hydrate!

The Parade and Celebration at Lakeside Park will go on, rain or shine, dress and plan accordingly.

Appropriate behavior is always required.
