South Norfolk 4th of July Celebration

Each year, in partnership with the City of Chesapeake, the South Norfolk Civic League hosts individuals, businesses and organizations from all over to participate in its annual 4th of July Celebration. To reserve a 10’x10’ space at this year’s 2024 event, please apply here after reading and agreeing to the following:
2024 COMMUNITY VENDOR/ORGANIZATION GUIDELINES
1) Please read through these guidelines entirely before applying.Applications will only be accepted if submitted and approved by the Event Committee on or before June 20, 2024.
2) Once approved, applicants will be asked to submit a $35 fee. Applicant fee should be made payable to the South Norfolk Civic League if by mail or in person, or online via PayPal.
3) Individuals or organizations selling merchandise or soliciting monetary donations may be asked to:
A) send images of their display and images or samples of your materials. Images may be submitted:
i) through the Google Form (https://forms.gle/JtkX3oKSdC8vfW9Z8)
ii) by email to SouthNorfolkCivicLeague@gmail.com
iii) by mail to SNCL, PO Box 5508, Chesapeake, VA 23324 (must be delivered or postmarked by June 20, 2024).
iv) through coordination with a Civic League Board Member.
B) furnish the Event Committee with a copy of their business and/or peddler’s license, or a copy of their 501(c) paperwork, if applicable.
4) Vendor/Organization Applications are not automatically approved. Application approval/denial shall be at the discretion of the Event Committee.
5) Booth size is non-negotiable. Location requests will be honored on a case-by-case basis, subject to the approval of the Event Committee. Applicants must furnish their own set-up: chairs, tables and tents are not provided.
6) With limited exceptions, only those individuals/organizations identified on the application, subject to its approval, shall be permitted to sell merchandise/engage in promotions in or around the space reserved.
7) Setup is 6-9 a.m. on July 4, 2024. Do not be late. Police close the streets for the parade, and you may not make it into the park for setup if you are late. You must be in the park by 8 a.m. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
8) Vehicles must leave the area after unloading. Park Rangers will be making rounds to remind you.
9) The event ends at 3 p.m.
10) Items/Objects posted or displayed must be less than 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide, and safely secured to prevent falling or object becoming a trip hazard.
11) Information and displays should be family-friendly.
12) This is a drug and alcohol-free event.
13) A member of the Event Committee or Civic League Executive Board may view displays at intervals throughout the show to ensure rules are being followed.
14) The Event Committee reserves the right to ask any individual or organization to remove any works or items it deems inappropriate or unsafe. Spaces are subject to inspection prior to the opening of and for the duration of the event.
15) Once approved by the Event Committee, your application is your commitment to attending the event. Refunds, requested after the application deadline (June 20, 2024), may or may not be granted at the discretion of the Event Committee.
16) The South Norfolk Civic League is not responsible for cancellations by the City of Chesapeake for any reason, including inclement weather.
17) Applicants agree to abide by all Park Rules and City Ordinances within their space.
18) Certain vendors/organizations may require liability insurance. The South Norfolk Civic League is not responsible for providing such insurance.
