Next meeting May 19

The next meeting of the South Norfolk Civic League (SNCL) will be May 13 at 7 p.m. at the South Norfolk Community Center, 1217 Godwin Ave., in Portlock. All are invited and welcome to attend (but only members may vote).

The SNCL helped in the April 6 Community Cleanup Day, organized by former SNCL president Vicki Josue.

Nearly a hundred people helped collect nearly 200 bags of trash in the South Norfolk Historic District. Cleanups will be held quarterly, Josue said.

The Ruritans served lunch to cleanup volunteers at Elizabeth River Park, and other groups helping included the South Norfolk Martial Arts Academy, Girl Scouts, Gateway Community Church and more. Thank you to all who contributed to this new activity in South Norfolk.

The “Rollin’ on the River” Food Truck Event Series has begun! Bring your family and friends to the Elizabeth River Park every second and fourth Thursdays for music, fun, friends, family and FOOD! Starts at 5 p.m. Ends at 8.

Interested vendors should contact the SNCL.

Plans for the Fourth of July Parade and Celebration in the Park are rolling along, too! Food, Arts & Crafts, and retail vendors are still being accepted.
Sign-up forms are available here.

SNCL membership is $5 per year for individuals and $10 per year for families. Everyone is welcome to join. This means YOU! 🙂
